The Israeli Atheist Wave

October 11, 2011 by 3 Comments

The news out of Israel should be very encouraging for any atheist out there, the writer Yoram Kaniuk has finally got his religion status removed from the nation registry, meaning he is no longer identified as “Jewish” in the governmental files. There should be no mistake here, this particular person is very much an Israeli, he had fight for this country and sacrificed much for it, however he is against the ever lasting embrace Israel has with the Jewish religion.

The author told journalists that “Personally, I have always been an atheist. I belong to the Jewish nation; I have never belonged to the Jewish religion”, which is fair enough, to be of the Jewish nation but not to participate or to support the main ideas of the religion is exactly what atheists need. Since we can not, or should want, to break away from our personal heritage we need to separate the religious condition into which we were born and the actual idea of that same religion.

Following the move to register Kaniuk as “without a religion” hundreds (some say thousands) of now “Jewish” Israelis are now asking to have the same done to their status in the registry, which just shows you that if only given the chance atheism could be the the fastest growing non religion of our time.

The Other Side of Occupy Wall Street

October 9, 2011 by Leave a Comment

After the first post “we are the 99%” some felt they needed to tell me how this protest has another, pretty nasty, side to it, and unfortunately they are right. Some of the people in this protest are expressing racist views (not only about Jews by the way) and are holding opinions that should have been gone from the world long ago.

The idea that all Jews are rich is not only plain stupid and racist, it is also wrong. For those who are not aware of it, the idea of the tents in wall street came from Israel, where an overwhelming 25% of the population went out to demonstrate because they can not afford to buy a place to live in (meaning they can not find an affordable home in any part of the country) so it looks like many Jews in Israel are not rich, actually it looks like they are poor.

While the anger towards Wall Street and the banks is (at least) somewhat justified the tendency of finding whole groups who profit from the suffering of others belongs to the bloody human history, and is deeply rooted there. The fact that new left wing liberals are now becoming the new fascists is troubling enough, add to this the easy solution of finger pointing and blaming the Jews and you get history rewritten, with only 60+ years separating us from the actual events.

Israel Jaffa Graves Desecrated on Yom Kipur

October 9, 2011 by Leave a Comment

This one is a case for the religious fanatics detective, because it involves so much religious traditions and behavior its almost painfully clear how much better everyone will be without this. It seems that once again someone had attacked a Muslim institue, however this time its a little “off”.

A cemetery in Jaffa, Israel was desecrated on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kipur, and had the same features as the latest attacks on Mosques in the north of Israel, however it is strange since the day of Yom Kipur is, for religious Jews, a day in which you do nothing but pray in the synagog, meaning that they do not do any physical activity, including driving, eating, getting together and writing anything (the act of writing is prohibited, go figure).

So who was it that desecrated the graves? and why?, we can safely assume it was not religious Jews, however we can not rule out nationalistic Muslim hating non-religious Jews, many of whom are identified with the Israeli-Russian political party of Liberman, however this gets a little more complicated, since some of the writings in the cemetery had “death to the Russians” on them.

In the meanwhile it looks like anyone who is anyone is the Israeli politics is out of their way to show how shocked and upset they are, a strange thing when you realize that grave desecration is something that has been going on a long time before Israel even established itself as a country. The old Jewish cemetery on the Olive Mount in Jerusalem is desecrated on a usually monthly basis, most of the times the vandals are from the Arab villages around the cemetery, and they have been doing it for generations.

The act of desecrating graves is so common in the Arab world (inflicted upon non Muslim graves) that you can find it in almost any Arab country that has non Muslim graves. In Israel many cemeteries are equipped with electronic surveillance systems and guards, its almost crazy that this country needs to spend resources protecting the dead.

The bottom line here? Someone wants to get a religious war going, it can be secular Jews, religious Muslims or anyone in the middle, your guess is as good as mine.

We Are the 99%

October 7, 2011 by Leave a Comment

It does not matter if like it or not, you stand 99% to be one of the 99%.

Actually you are much more likely to be in the 99% than its actual number. I can safely assume that if you are reading this you are the 99%, because the 1% are not interested in what we got to say, what we do and how we do it.

Did 99% of us just realize that its all about the money? Not only in the U.S. but all around the world? Can it be that we live in a world that is so money driven that it has forgotten its humanity?, the answers to all of these are a big fat yes.

The one difference I hope these good people will make is that it will signal the people on the political top that there is going to be a price for preferring money to people, it will start with losing political power and it could end by being removed from power. It means that you can not just decide that you are going to give banks whatever they want without the people getting up and saying what they think, and it also means that we are still a world of human beings – not of bankers and numbers.

Misunderstandings That Lead to the Truth

October 7, 2011 by Leave a Comment

The soccer team Zamalek from Egypt Cairo is one of the largest in the Middle east, it is known for its rivalry with the other club from the same city Al Wahali, and it is also starting to make a name for itself for the uncompromising haters of Jews. If soccer fans are the voice of the people than this is one sound you better listen to, because it not only means things about the future relationship between Israel and Egypt, but also about the attitude of Arabs towards Jews, not towards just Israel.

Zamalek Fans Banners Are Clear and Simple

While many fans of this team create banners that pronounce their hatred of Israel with many different forms, it looks like many of them unit behind one clear message, which they take pride on, this message is “one nation for a new holocaust”, if you are thinking that this is just a juvenile act of stupidity you are wrong, because these banners are all over this huge stadium and are very much an expression of what these people think that they want. Note that it does not say “Free Palestine” or “Better Lives for Palestinians” and it makes perfect sense that it does not say this.

The Egyptian fans of this particular club are not wealthy people, they do not express their wishes for someone else better life quality, all they are interested in is a new holocaust, meaning the extermination of anyone who was born to the Jewish faith. No Israel, and no bad Jews, simply all the Jews, wherever they may be, of any color or size, age or set of beliefs, shot them in the head and through them into ovens.

This is the word that comes out of Egypt as the Norwegians put their coats on to get out to the chilly Oslo street and pick a Nobel Peace Prize winner, probably one of the people leading that glorious Arab Spring revolution, that is now fast becoming the new fascistic, racist and hate mongering mobs of Egypt.
