Is Libya Free?
Libya, now free from its dictator, is not doing so well, from the mobs in the streets to diplomats overseas and a culture of violence and aggression it looks like this country has too much to deal with. It all started when it actually ended, the life of its former dictator taken in a brutal, quick and almost mafia execution it made clear that not much is going to change.
There must have been a few people in Europe who felt relief when they saw the videos of bleeding Qaddafi being led to his final moments by the rebels, no doubt he would have made a scene at an international (or national) court, quoting secret agreements and deals with western leaders of the past 30 years. And that is probably what led Europe in its silence towards the deteriorating situation in the country, they are really too tired to deal with these people, all they want is oil and gas, winter is just around the corner and the last thing they want is an increase in energy costs.
The locals however do not feel they need to restrain themselves any longer, it is time for each one to state what he thinks, and it is also time to get to work on old and fresh disputes. So we get diplomats and street mobs shouting that there is no place for anyone born Jewish in Libya (even Jews who were unlucky enough to be born in Libya itself), we hear Libyan statesmen say that the Sharia will be law of the land, making it clear that this revolution is, from now on, restricted to Muslim men, all females and non Muslims are out.
The turning of Libya into a Sharia run country is not a huge surprise, however it starts to look as if every country that went through a “revolution” ended up Islamizing itself, almost to the point that one has to wonder if it was not a religious revolution in the first place, painted in human rights form so that the west would cheer on from the sidelines.
2011 Personal Daily Journal From the Stone Age
While surfing the net yesterday I saw something that really caught my attention, and even though it is not my habit to pick on innocent bystanders but this one really shows the chains of religion on (what seems like) a young man who is trying to understand what is the right thing to do. When you read and understand this you will also understand how it is very possible for believers to murder babies in the name of god, since even their own mother will not escape the harsh religious and cultural sentence.
A link got me to a site called “turn to Islam”, a forum with people discussing many things, but this one looked special, check it out
There is no information about this young man, but from the way he uses English I think its a safe bet to say that he is living in the West (“Blow off steam”), and it also seems like his mother has been divorced for a very long time, without it being a huge deal, also an indication that this post is not coming from someone living in Arabia. Even if this person is not living in the West it is still a testimony for the terrible problems that religions causes, in this case Islam, but to be honest it could have easily been any other religion.
“Zina” is a very strong word, it does not translate well into English and it carries with it very strong meaning of fornication and adultery, the punishment for this “crime” is death in some Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran (who knew, right?) and can also be imprisonment and lashing (separately or a combo), the normal procedure in the Arab world is stoning the couple.
This might be a good time to say that views differ on the subject of the punishment, and that it is much more a cultural thing then the actual word of God in the book, however it is done in the name of religion, and in the case before us it is very easy to understand that the writer is above all in a state of overwhelming fear that his mother will be stoned.
Let’s think for a moment about how this could play itself in a modern secular family. A young adult has a reason to believe that his mother is having sex with a guy who he know is still married, he could be concerned about the future, the guy’s intentions, his mother’s feelings etc. He might be brave enough to ask his mother to have a serious talk with him, and he might discover that the guy is getting a divorce, that his wife is actually cheating on him for years, or any other thing that would make the situation look differently. Our believing writer here does not have a chance.
He is torn between fear and the need to show solid evidence against his own mother so that his brothers and sisters come to his help in removing the sex offender from their home and lives, the whole part of him thinking about placing a hidden camera in his mother’s bedroom so he can film her having sex (!) only to show it to all his siblings and go after her with the proof he so desperately needs to save her from stoning.
The totalitarian nature of religion removes that thought of the individual, even of the group, we can see how he has no concern for his mother’s feelings and sexual needs, to the guy’s family or to anyone in this situation, he is obsessed with following the religious process and stamping his mother guilty.
Scroll down and you will see the sound advice other believers give him, “get your brothers and kick him out” is basically it, no one stands to protect that mother, no one gives pause to any kind of human feeling, its all God’s prescribed movements that they are taking, and we should all be very concerned that in November of 2011 this kind of robotic behavior is displayed, because if they care not for their own mothers that will not care for our children.
Nigeria Is Zeroing in on Christians
Nigeria is Zeroing in on Christians, seems a little harsh for a title no?, will not today.
The last work of pure evil is coming from a group called “boko haram” which is very much against the central government of Nigeria, and uses the same old tactics being used and implemented over the middle east for some time now, the indiscriminate slaughter of citizens of all ages to destabilize the power of the government and make life a living hell for everyone, with the exception of those defined as correctly religious.
The goal, also perfectly synched with all mid east terror groups, is a Sharia law country in which Islam calls the shots, even though Nigeria is a pretty big country with a mostly Christian based north, a Sharia law in Nigeria means very bad news to the Nigerian Christians – if it will happen.
Among the killing and slaughter of police officers and other people this group also remember to execute some of the real targets of radical Islamists, and makes sure to set fire to churches whenever possible, and to kill Christians as a bonus.
All of this should not surprise us, in a world that is blindly celebrating a so called “Arab Spring” which gives birth to new forms of totalitarianism many turn a blind eye and ear to the voices coming from Libya calling for Sharia law in the new country (combined with deadly violence in the name of Islam), the results of the elections in Tunisia which is turning into an Islamist radical country and the recent attacks on Christians and churches in Kenya and you get a clear picture. Small groups of local Islamic radicals are moving in on their targets, elimination of Christians from their environment.
Palestinians Heritage Agenda at UNESCO
The news today tell the story of the Palestinian authority agenda at UNESCO, mainly of having Bethlehem registered as a “Palestinian heritage site”, this is done to politically gain some points against Israel and promote the participation of the PA into the UN as a member state.
The trouble with this request is the poor treatment the Palestinians give Christians and their sites, something that does not appear much on the news and that is probably considered less sexy is the fact that Christians numbers in the PA have been diminishing very quick, from making 30% of the total population 30-40 years ago to under 9% today (check out this link to learn more). Although there are no official interviews with people planning why the leave their homes it is safe to assume it is the Muslim pressure targeting Christians. And so the town of Bethlehem is today overwhelming Muslim, and is expected to be 99% Muslim in a few years.
The destruction of synagogs in the Gaza area, in the name of nationalism or religion (or both) serves as a painful reminder of how Palestinians treat other religions in their controlled areas. As an atheist I do not mind the destruction of religious sites, however all these are of huge historic importance, to all mankind, and should be preserved as a part of our understanding our past. There is no doubt that religious intolerance starts with the destruction of symbols and monuments of one side and ends with the destruction of human lives.
