Tunisia Turns Ultra Religious

Springtime for Tunisia?

The Arab “spring” erupted in Tunisia over a year ago, now this country is setting the example of the post spring like Arab new democratic form, which is nothing much then the Arab fundamentalist summer that is upon us.

For those following the trends in the Arab world, the fall of Libya to Al-Queda by the hands of financially worried westerns and the quick turning of the desert tribal country into a hotspot for Arab Sonni militant operations, the political impossibility in Egypt and the establishment of the first Pan Arab Muslim brotherhood government, and of course the latest Syrian 20 month slaughter and bloodletting that seems to interest no one but the poor victims in Syria, it is no surprise that Tunisia now claims its rightful place among those counties who have now completed their march back in time towards the middle ages (only with cell phones and weapons of mass destruction).

And so those of us with a strong enough stomach (or a mind so blunt it can withstand horrific violence) you can click a link on the original post and see how a man is put to death in Tunisia for choosing to believe in Christianity rather than in Islam. It would have shocked people in Europe if it had happened 3 or 5 years ago, this beach result country that hosts many Europeans in its hotels never seemed to have the religious craziness that other Arab countries had – but now it comes as the frosting on the cake – the violence to put a back behind all of those words of anger.

Tunisia is indeed sending a clear message to its people and other Arab people around the world, move away from Islam and you will be killed, never mind the year and the advances in human life and never mind the “international community”, the rules are the same as they were 600 years ago, they apply and still work.

Add this act to the strong voices coming from within the Egyptian political system that calls for the removal of all non Muslims from the country, the flee of non Muslims from Syria and the erosion of the Christians from Iraq and you have exactly what these people want – a uniform populace landscape, ready for an internal Arab conflict and in the same time growing its forces for the struggle for domination of the world.

Far fetched as it may seem, this is the goal and this is the purpose, it is clearly in the teaching of modern Islamic scholars and it is noted in their holy books, and executing this starts with executing other religious madness, like eliminating opposing religious systems, and killing of apostates.

Houla Syria Is the Boy Cry “the King Is Naked”

The People living Next Door Came at Night to Cut Throats

About two months ago it seemed that the situation in Syria can not get worst, but since that time the question “is Syria a third world country?” has been replaced with an almost clear understanding that it is actually a middle age country.

The slaughter in Syria is tribal based religious war, the causes for this Syrian civil war are based on the Arab Sonni-Shia conflict and nothing else. On the side of the Sonni majority you have the claims for years of oppressive regime and brutal dictatorship that kept that part of the population in poverty and under chains, on the Shia side of things you will hear claims of impending massacre if they do not put on a fight now.

The last, horrific, massacre to be known to the West is the Houla massacre, in which dozens were savagely murdered in their homes, while asleep. These poor victims were not killed in an army action, they were not torn to pieces by relentless shelling (as many others were, and still are) but were stabbed and shot – point blank, by their Alawait neighbors, who simply did the math and realized that if they do not clear the near area of the “other” tribe their own days are numbered.

Just like any other regional slaughter, which is almost always religion based, the fear of the other side taking arms is the prime motivation in unthinkable slaughter, the other group is perceived as so evil and terrible that people take arms and do not spare anyone – even 5 week old babies.

The West, it seems, simply has no idea about any of that, Assad takes the blame for many things that he might have inspired – but is probably not connected to at all (like these regional massacres), the lack of information and the persistence on avoiding the religious issues at hand makes most of the Western media and politicians ignorant of the topic, this is not a (relatively) simple king-gone-mad type of thing but a complicated tribal based war.

Saudi Arabia is deeply involved here, as the main protector of the Sonni Arab side it has to be, and the growing tensions between the two Muslim super powers, Iran and Saudi Arabia, mean that none of them is going to put less pressure on its fighting parties. The West has done nothing to try and untangle the religious issues, it has done nothing to solve the problem, it does not send a clear message to Iran who is backing Assad, and it is not stopping the Saudis from increasing the fire under Syria’s feet.

This last Houla massacre is simply the naive boy’s cry “the king is naked”, we are living in a world that has not changed much in the past 3,000 years, the only thing is that we learn about massacres like these a day or two later and can see clear images of the slaughtered, but no one moves a finger to stop this, UN planes fly in and out of the Syrian capitol airport, dinners and lunches are held, press conferences are issued, and all is watched by the slowly withering eyes of the soon to be killed population of Syria.

Its Wedding Season

May 30, 2012 by Leave a Comment

Wedding, religious or not, are almost always a fun occasion, free drinks and lots of dancing and laughing. Of course there are exceptions, Jewish weddings do not have pork and shrimp, Muslim weddings have dancing but not by the guests and Christian weddings can sometimes drag on forever. Weddings are also something that is heavily inspired by religion costumes but have grown into a more cultural events – stemming out of their traditional religious roots and embracing different local traditions on top of the ancient religious ones.

The mayor of Nice in Southern France has decided that he, as well as many of the city’s inhabitants had enough of the noisy craziness that follows a civil marriage in the town hall, French citizens can have a religious ceremony but they also need to have the formal day at town hall, some French people sign up and have a party – and some sign up and head to a much more elaborate religious ceremony. Some have combined the registration as wed couple and the traditional religious festivities and created a noisy festival that apparently repeats itself in Nice’s town hall.

No Noisy Wedding in Nice, France

And so the city has come to be the first that simply bans the noise and the parades that follow some of those weddings, and to make things even worst it seems that many who does this are immigrants who also like to wave their own (original) national flags, making this typical French republic tradition a celebration of another nationally, the flags are banned as well.

In another corner of the world, Pakistan, 6 people who had too much fun in one wedding are now facing a death sentence by religious authorities, for (wait for it), dancing together – which is somehow such a terrible offense that it can only be made up for by blood – and lots of it.

Four men and two women have somehow gotten themselves on a cell phone video of them celebrating and dancing at a local wedding, which is strictly forbidden, the Pakistani seem to separate genders in weddings and prefer that both sides stick to their own kind as long as festivities last, the people involved have somehow decided that they want to change this stone age concept of weddings and mingled – now the men are on the run and the women, who have been not so lucky and remain in prison, can only take comfort that the sentence called for the killing of the men before the women, so as long as they are on the run the women have a chance at life.

The French Socialist Loophole Danger

May 23, 2012 by Leave a Comment

This month saw the elections and installation of a new French president, winning by a relatively small magian of a few percent Hollande beat Sarkozy on his way to becoming a new socialist president of the French republic. The celebrations on the night of the vote revealed one of the prominent dangers that the French society faces, and which is one of the main points of conservatives as well as Front National voters (right and far rights voters), who have contributed greatly to the election of Mr. Hollande by not casting their votes, as the Front National leader suggested she will do.

Nationalists in France were horrified to see a sea of flags waved at them from the old Place de la Bastille, that old symbol of the popular national revolution that shaped modern France and inspired the whole world to move forward towards dropping monarchs and aristocracy and adopt a republican way of political life. Hollande supporters seem to agree on one thing, much of the votes in his favor came from citizens who prime concern lies not with the republic but with other nations around the world, mainly in the Arab world and the African continent, many of these voters did not hesitate to show their “true colors” in the night of Hollande’s victory.

And so photographers find themselves hard pressed to find a French person waving a French flag on the night, the place was full of  flags but those were Syrian, Palestinian, Algerian and Moroccan, Italian and even Greek flags, but not many French flags.

What does this mean? well, for a start it could mean that this is the socialist dream come true, abolishment of rank and status, even to the degree of nationality, in a warm embrace of equality, however this is far from the case when talking about France. The socialist “system” in France is much more about finance then anything else, it is not the old proletarian union philosophy, but rather a huge inflated governmental workspace that turns the country into the main business, and its citizens become its employees.

But those who were frantically waving foreign flags in the place de la bastille are not (only) about the free lunch system, they are out for much more than that, for them France had become a hub state, maybe more like a patch state, which collects other nations citizens and owes them gratitude and favors – a dangerous state of mind for any citizen to be in.

It seems that the new French president has a lot of work, not only will he need to call the shots in a time of great danger to the economy, he will also need to make sure that the French state does not disintegrate into pieces, as the south turns mostly nationalistic and the north becomes so drenched in immigration it speaks in too many tongues to understand, and waves too many flags to carry one cause.

Birthplace of Democracy Slips Away

May 9, 2012 by Leave a Comment

As Europe celebrates a day to commemorate the victory day in Europe over Nazi Germany in 1945 as new dawn sets on Greece after its election results become clear. The extreme right party Golden Dawn won about 7% of the votes and will have representation in the countries parliament. This party has been unsuccessful in its attempts to get into any public office so far, but it looks like things are changing in Greece.

Let no one criticize the ordinary Greek population, their involvement in the scandalous financial disaster that has been taking part in Greece for the past decade (or more) has been nothing, many Greeks are feeling the heat for something that they never did or profited from in any way (unless you consider having an olympic stadium a benefit), the country is suffering because of its crisis in a way that not many can even imagine in the west. However the decline into far right, xenophobic neo-Nazi like representation in the elections is something that needs to serve as a serious warning to other nations – as well as to Greece itself.

The “Golden Dawn” party focuses much of its agenda to the illegal immigrant crisis in Greece (and if you have visited any major Greek city in the past couple of years you must know that this is true), but just watching the festive video from the first conference the head of the party held after discovering the election results will rattle any normal person, the amount of aggressive brutality, and the demand to “show respect” does hit a nerve on touchy, dictatorial issue of the past, all packaged up with anti-media hysteria, open threats to self perceived “traitors” and much more.
