Shaking Regression in Turkey

September 5, 2011 by Leave a Comment

Turkey has been on (some) headlines for some time now, it does look like this great country is on a down slope, the only question is how and when will it stop. It starts with an ambitious prime minister who is close to Islam, who is a devote Muslim and who seems to have fantasies of time long gone, of the Ottoman empire.

Turkey’s prime minister Erdogan has been leading his country since 2003 helped the Turkish economy overcome monstrous problems and in the last few years has been focusing on strengthening ties with Iran and Syria, in what looks like an effort to become a significant leader of that region, maybe even the pan-Arabic leader.

Erdogan has lead a no tolerance policy in everything to do with the Kurdish people (who Turkey bombs and kills whenever diplomatically possible), the Armenian genocide (carried out by Turks from 1912 to probably 1923, murdering a million and a half Armenians within the territory of the Ottoman empire) and the Jewish people state of Israel.

While he instructs his ministers to not respond to any questions about Armenians and Kurds, he is more than happy to give his opinion on Israel. This country has been a close ally of Turkey for the last 25 years and had cooperated with it militarily and economically, however Israel has suddenly become an obsession for prime minister Ardogan, mainly the Gaza blockade and the treatment of Palestinians.

This could all be true and real, however it is very difficult to believe that Turkey is so shocked by an occupation of a territory, because Turkey is unlawfully occupying a part of Cyprus for the past 36 years. Treatment of terrorists who are in a autonomous region is something that the Turkish government regards as a free zone for bombing and deporting locals from, like it currently does with the Kurdish population, and talking about massacres and slaughters (which Israel is not, by any way, doing to the Arabs in or out of its country) is something the Turks know all too well from the Armenian episode. So why in the world would Ardogan make war like threats upon Israel on issues which he and his country has been ankle deep involved in for a much longer time than Israel?

Maybe because they are Jews, and the Palestinian topic is of everlasting interest on the Arab street and Erdogan thinks he could gain points on this. Maybe because the Turkish economy is losing altitude in an alarming rate and is about to lose major credit points on the global economical arena, or maybe as a Muslim the Turkish prime minister simply can not stand the Jews, could be.

Turkey is now said to be looking to partner up with the fastest fundamentalist around – Egypt, in what seems like the non stop dance for political points Erdogan is doing in the Arab world (failed miserably with Bashar Assad, the Iranians too).

So now we are on the doorstep of a physical confrontation between Turkey and Israel, while Turkey’s army just had four of its top general resign because of what they regard as a dangerous Islamisation of the country, which was transformed to secular by the spectacular Ataturk who revived the Turkish people. The prime minister has replaces those generals with his own people, who see things like him, and we are now about to find out if the major investments of the U.S. and Israel in Turkey will not come back to fight in the name of Islam and personal glorification.

Is Environmentalism a Religion?

September 3, 2011 by Leave a Comment

This is totally a credit to the fantastic Michael Crichton, who is no longer with us (passed away 2008). The idea that environmental movement is in the process of becoming a religion is relatively a new one, just as the movement is, we are not talking about a century old discipline that is already indoctrinated around the world, however we are talking about a movement that has growing dramatically over the past decade and that is enjoying an overwhelming level of financial support from almost every country in the western world.

The ideas that this movement promote are speculation, not fact, and the way it treats people who criticism it should alarm even the most peace loving weather concerned person out there. The problem always starts when people use a set of beliefs (in this case that global warming is a direct result of human activity) to force change upon everyone else, and demanding not to be questioned or challenged, and this is exactly what is going on with this movement these days.

Here are two videos to start this new category (Environmentalism) going, the first is of Mr. Crichton making his point about the movement and its religious characteristics, the second is much more recent in which global warming champion former vice president of the United States of America Al Gore makes an almost Freudian slip when talking about people who question his theory of climate change.

Samples of Contemporary Religious Fear

September 1, 2011 by Leave a Comment

I found this question on Yahoo! Answers (The UK edition), its got a best answer, rated by other users, however its make you think… to think of Atheism as something that is natural and will ultimately reach your kids, wife, neighbors and friends is kind of cool.

Stupid Quesiton, Insightful Idea

Its all true, letting the one god idea go the same way the multiple gods went is only reasonable to expect, and since this already happened we know that sometime, maybe not so soon, almost everyone will realize that we do not need the idea of the men made god.

The nice shift is that “believers” or actually ones who follow a god are now so well informed about Atheism that they have an agenda of pushing this information as far as possible from their kids, because even they realize that once the idea lands… it takes over.

With all the wars, violence, anger and hate religions spread in this world would it not be a great day when everyone will just let god go?

Here is the answer –

Yeah, that's a pretty good answer right there

Stepping Forward With Atheism

September 1, 2011 by Leave a Comment

There must have been a moment there, when Constantine the great converted the Roman empire into Christianity, that some of the Roman citizens and many around the ancient world were still pagan and seriously into worshiping multiple deities of many kinds.

At that moment some of the Romans needed to decide if they are joining in on the latest craze and going Christian or staying with the tradition of their ancestors by conserving their relationship with the other gods. The ones that broke from Paganism must have had a hard time, many daily rituals needed to stop (at least in public) and many old habits needed to disappear, however it seems that many of them moved forward and joined the monotheistic religion that marched all the way from Jerusalem.

1,700 years later many still praise the move from multiple deity religion to the one god religion, as if this was an improvement. The great Richard Dawkins has been known to say that Atheists just take one more step and let go of the idea of Gods altogether, and it makes perfect sense.

The blindness of those who are religious is much more evident when they talk about Paganism, it seems to them so crazy and ridiculous that anyone would think that there are many gods that they do not stop to think and consider why think there is even one god. Just take one step forward, it is clear that there are no multiple gods and it is clear that reducing them into one general god does not work either.

One Angry Colonel Out & About

August 31, 2011 by Leave a Comment

Muammar Gaddafi is now free, seems like no one knows his location, and while a bunch of angry mob is on the lookout for him he is more than capable of deceiving them for a long time (unless something goes wrong).

It must be a time for him to reflect at what had happened in the last months, but mostly in the last few weeks or even days. The foreign reports say that it looked like Gaddafi and family were not planning anything new, they were living their lives as usual, with all the ceremony of grovelling  and ass kissing that we know learn where so characteristic of his regime.

Gaddafi must now know why it became so important to remove him in these last days, why NATO did not make the move before, and why did the politicians across the sea in Europe did not get red-faced and real angry with him before.

It should be a good time for us, Gaddafi was not a good guy, but who did he get replaced with? no one really knows, however it does seem that with that sudden urgency Europe went out of its way to remove that colonel many very unpleasant people got into a circle that usually should not have them. Did we not create a new Afghanistan? will they not ask in parliaments all over the world in 10-15 years how we could have possibly let a bunch of dark ages thugs take over this country? Only time will tell.

Good guys? Bad guys? Who Knows?
