As Europe celebrates a day to commemorate the victory day in Europe over Nazi Germany in 1945 as new dawn sets on Greece after its election results become clear. The extreme right party Golden Dawn won about 7% of the votes and will have representation in the countries parliament. This party has been unsuccessful in its attempts to get into any public office so far, but it looks like things are changing in Greece.
Let no one criticize the ordinary Greek population, their involvement in the scandalous financial disaster that has been taking part in Greece for the past decade (or more) has been nothing, many Greeks are feeling the heat for something that they never did or profited from in any way (unless you consider having an olympic stadium a benefit), the country is suffering because of its crisis in a way that not many can even imagine in the west. However the decline into far right, xenophobic neo-Nazi like representation in the elections is something that needs to serve as a serious warning to other nations – as well as to Greece itself.
The “Golden Dawn” party focuses much of its agenda to the illegal immigrant crisis in Greece (and if you have visited any major Greek city in the past couple of years you must know that this is true), but just watching the festive video from the first conference the head of the party held after discovering the election results will rattle any normal person, the amount of aggressive brutality, and the demand to “show respect” does hit a nerve on touchy, dictatorial issue of the past, all packaged up with anti-media hysteria, open threats to self perceived “traitors” and much more.
